Youth Summer Basketball League

People interested in Summer Basketball

have also shown interest in our Fall Basketball League (Indoors).

BCWB offers an 8 game over up to 8 weeks of Youth Summer Basketball League to boys and girls grades 4th - 7th (Junior Division) and 8th - 10th (Senior Division),  11th - 12th (High School/Pre-College Division).  Grade is based on the grade prior to the summer break.  Games are played on Saturday's mid-morning to evening.  Game times start at 11:00 AM and usually conclude around 4:00 PM.  We will hold several Friday night games.  Friday night games will start at 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM.  Each team will play one Friday night game during the regular season.  Normal game duration is about 1 hour.  (For example:  Game times are 11:00 AM, 12:00 Noon, 1:00 PM, 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM).  Junior and Senior Division are played outdoors while High School/Pre-College Division may be played indoors.

Players attending summer camps, vacations or other summer activities, which may result in missing one or more games are welcome and encouraged to participate.  A player must play at least two regular season games to qualify for the post-season playoffs.  Special cases,  vacations\camps, will be allowed provided it had been approved by the Division commissioner prior to the infraction.

Player eligibility  is primarily determined by grade which basically groups the kids in grades based on the current school year (as of January of the current year).   Junior Division (grades 4th - 7th) and Senior Division (grades 8th - 10th), High School/Pre-College Division (11th and 12th)

The cost of this summer league varies according to when you register. Early registration is the best option.  Regular registration is slightly higher and Late registration can cost the most.  Additional savings between $5.00, $10.00 or free admission can be obtained by on-line registration or membership into our Every Child Counts Campaign.   Please see our home page www.bcwb.org for registration rates during the registration period January - May.  In the past, we have allowed teams to enter the league.  However, due to the number of teams we can effectively manage each year, new teams into the league will be allowed on a case by case basis.

This summer league program is designed as a fun activity during the youth's summer break and adds in all the safe guards for a well organized and managed activity.  The program is held outdoors at a local Frederick City park conveniently located and within walking distance to many city residences.  We hire high school officials to officiate every game.

Currently, we have 6 teams in our Junior Division and 5 teams in our Senior Division.   The season starts just before or immediately after the regular school year ends.  Therefore, depending on make up snow days, our start date could vary from the second week to the third or forth week of June.  The season is designed to run over a  8 week period.  Our estimated end date and playoffs is Mid July to the first week of August.  Every team makes the playoffs and playoffs are single elimination.   At the conclusion of the year every child will receive, at minimum, a participation award.   Championship and Runner-up trophies are given to the 1st and 2nd place teams in each division.  The 1st and 2nd place coach will receive a team trophy in each division.
