Willis "Junny" Hall Jr.
       2000 Community Service Award Recipient

Will Hall
Basketball Coaches Without Boundaries was proud to have honored Mr. Willis "Junny" Hall for his outstanding service to the Youth and Community of Frederick County.  Willis was also one of the original board members for BCWB when we started the organization in March of 2000.   Due to church and family commitments, Willis was unable to serve out his term.  However, Willis provided volunteer support for our Youth Summer League by officiating many of our games.  Willis continued to support us by offering his officiating services over the years.  In 2000 the Board of Directors choose Willis as our 1st Community Service Award recipient.  Since 2000, we have not awarded this honor.  We hope to bring this award back for our 5th year anniversary.

At our Community PicnicWillis Group which concluded the 2000 Youth Summer League season,  we honored and gave recognition to our Board member and friend Mr. Willis "Junny" Hall who  demonstrated overwhelming support in the Frederick County community for more than 20 years as an athlete and community volunteer.

Many of us remember Willis as the life guard as Munixx Park, Frederick County Park Leader, swimming and life guard instructor, center on all of our pick-up basketball games, recreation leader at South Frederick Elementary teen center, referee at community basketball events, and more.  As an added recognition we also gave honor to Willis's Frederick High School graduating class of 1967.

A little know fact about Willis is he played on the Frederick Community College Basketball team when FCC was just a small school on Market Street Frederick.   FCC had a great team with players like Ellis Tellis and Jack Campell.  As a Frederick High School player, he was un-stoppable.  A big time player in the paint.   Played with some of the greatest players to come out of Frederick County, Chuck Forman, Spinny Johnson, and Kenny Boyd.

Willis and his wife were presented with a free 3 day weekend to the Old Country, Williamsburg, Va.  to relax and enjoy each other company.  The Board also provide them with a cash love gift to pay for meals and other  related expenses.

Willis has been a true friend to BCWB and we thank him for all his support over the years.
