June 19, 2004 Juniors
Junior Division
Cincinnati vs. Stanford -    This game was closer than the score indicates.  Stanford, a new team to the league this year had several players score in double figures.  A couple of players scoring 3 point shots.   Stanford had a slow start with scoring only 9 points for the half, however there must have been a very good half-time pep talk because Stanford came back in the second half to score 23 points.

Cincinnati - a team with players, having played together for 2 or 3 years, experience showed up.  Very evenly paced with a 22 point 1st half and a 26 point second half.  Having 6 players score with two in double figures and two players scoring three
point shots.  Cincinnati came out with the win 48 to 34.

Higher Scorer  (Cinn. - T. Thomas, 15 pts)    (Stanford - Z. Adams, 16 pts.)

Next week game:       Cinn. vs. Georgetown          Stanford vs. St. Johns
Wake Forest vs. Syracuse - Wooooo, looks like a tight one.  Wake Forest picks up from where they left off last year with a win over a very good Syracuse team.  Two very close halves with a 18 to 16 first half wake forest lead and a 22 to 23 strong finish by syracuse.  However, syracuse comes up one point short.

Higher Scorer - (Wake Forest - T. Thomas 24 pts)   (Syracuse - Kevin B.,  20 pts)

Next week game:      Wake Forest vs. St. Joseph        Syracuse  vs. Virginia
North Carolina vs. Georgetown - a very close game in the 1st halve with a score of North Carolina 11 and Georgetown 13.  North Carolina coming off a slow year last year, appears to have rebuild and are looking to have a lot more fun this year - not to say a few more wins. However, today was not their day as Georgetown out scored NC 19 to 11 in the second half.

Higher Scorer (NC, J. Smith 9 pts)   (Georgetown J. Thomas 9 pts)

Next week game:    North Carolina vs. Uconn         Georgetown vs. Cinn.
Kentucky vs. St. Joseph's - Being coach Aronhalt's first year in the league and even with the addition of his son Derrick (who moved from Wake Forest to play with his DAD), St. Joseph's was unable to get their first win as a new team to the league.  Kentucky, a strong team in the past and runner-ups from the 2003 season put together two good halves of 14 pts and 17 pts to go on to a 31 to 19 win.

High Scorer (Kentucky, S. Morris 8 pts.)      ( St. Joseph's  Chase Wedge 7 pts)

Next week game:  Kentucky vs. Maryland         St. Joseph's Wake Forest
Virginia vs. Maryland -  An uphill challenge for Virginia, the 2003 Junior Division Champions, being a completely rebuilding team, losing many of their last year players to the senior division.  Having only 2 players return, Virginia will get better as the year progresses.  However, Maryland has rebuild from previous years and come back with what looks like a good team.  Having 11 players score, it appears maryland may be the team everyone is going to want to beat.

High Scorer  (Virginia  M. Thomas 7 pts)      (Maryland S. Goines 13 pts.)

Next week game:  Virginia vs Syracuse            Maryland vs. Kentucky
St. Johns vs. Uconn - very good match up with two seasoned teams coming together on opening day to showcase their stuff.  St. Johns, veteran coach Hill may have had a slight advantage with the experience of 5 year player Little Kenny and returning player Sam Lavela.  Both scored 10 pts each to lead St. Johns over Uconn.   However, Uconn put up a good challenge with a very close halve time score of 19 to 23.  Down only 5 pts., DJ. Whiten scored 11 of his game high 18 but was unable to help pull his team out with the win.

High Scorer  ( St. Johns  S. Laverla 10 pts, K. Hill 10 pts.)   (Uconn D. Whiten 18 pts)

Next week game:  St. Johns vs. Stanford           Uconn vs. North Carolina
June 26, 2004 Juniors
Wake Forest vs. St. Joseph - St. Joseph seeking its first win of the season, fell short to a good Wake Forest team 46 to 33.  St. Joseph demonstrating they have scoring power, had a even distribution of points per player.  However, Wake Forest Tailon Thomas has a strong week with a 30 point game.  Wake increase their record to 2 wins and 0 Losses for the year.

High Scorer (Wake Forest T. Thomas 30 pts.     St. Joes  C. Wedge  9 pts)

Next game - Wake Forest vs. Virginia         St. Joseph  vs.  Maryland
Cincinnati vs. Georgetown - a ties game at 13 to 13 at the half time, Georgetown out scored Cincinnati 17 to 10 to go on to a 30 to 23 win.  Some sharp three point shooting by Jonathan Thomas and Richard Brown  combined for 9 of Georgetown's second half 17 points.   Georgetown increase their record to 2 wins and 0 losses while Cincinnati is at 1 win and 1 loss.

High Scorer ( Cincinnati  Timothy thomas 9 pts.  Georgetown Jonathan Thomas 11 pts)

Next  game - Cincinnati  vs. Uconn            Georgetown vs. Stanford
Kentucky vs. Maryland  -  what was to be a match up of the big men (J. Bowie vs. S. Morris) turned out to be a all around team effort by Maryland where 9 players scored to  a combined 52 team points as Maryland defeats Kentucky 52 to 18.  Maryland was just too strong with too many players on the scoreboard.  However, Kentucky played without the services of their big man S. Morris.

High Scorer  (Maryland, S. Goines 16 points Kentucky J. Lowe and D. Tressler 5 pts )

Next game - Kentucky vs. Syracuse         Maryland vs. St. Joseph's
North Carolina vs. Uconn - North Carolina had to battle back from a 15 to 11 half time score to try to catch up with Uconn.  However, Uconn managed to fight off the attach as North Carolina played the second half scoring 22 pts to Uconn's 23 pts.  A much better second half to North Carolina.  North Carolina scored three 3 pts shots during the second half.

High Scorer ( North Carolina  L. Worrell  14 pts.     Uconn   C. Ingram 8 pts.)

Next game - North Carolina vs.  St. John's     Uconn vs. Cinn.
St. Johns  vs.  Stanford - Stanford go off to a slow start in the first half only scoring 9 points to St. Johns 22 points.  However, Stanford has a much better second half scoring 25 points to St. Johns 16 points.  This stanford team may just be turning the corner.  If they can continue the type effort they game in the second half of this game, they are going to give a lot of team some trouble.  However, St. Johns increase their record to 2 wins and 0 losses.  Big game by Khana Ma.

High scorer (St. Johns  K. Ma 16 pts.    Stanford  B. Wilson  11 pts)

Next game -  St. John vs. North Carolina            Stanford vs. Georgetown

July 10, 2004
St. Johns vs. North Carolina - St. Johns increase its record to 3 wins and 0 losses in an overtime 31 to 28 victory over a much improving North Carolina team.  The game went back and forth with several lead changes.  The halve time score was tied at 11 to 11.  Despite North Carolina's Lamar Worrell's second halve 10 points which included two 3 pt shots, St. John's Dwayne Jenkins scored 8 pts, of his game high 12 pts, in the second halve to give St. Johns the victory.

High scorer (St. Johns Dwayne Jenkins 12 pts.     North Carolina Lamar Worrell 12 pts)

Next game:         St. Johns vs. Cinn         North Carolina  vs. Stanford

Syracuse vs. Kentucky - Kentucky pulls out from a tight game which came down to the final foul shot.  A very close game in both halves.  This game was won a final foul shot by Joe Atmonavage.  Two very good teams took this battle to the wire.   Another great effort by Syracuse's Kevin B. with a game high 23 points.  However, Kentucky wins this one 43 to 42.

High Scorer  (Syracuse - Kevin B. 23 pts.   Kentucky - Morris & Tressler 11 pts. each)

Next game:          Syracuse vs. Maryland      Kentucky vs. Wake Forest
Cincinnati vs. Uconn - a much closer first halve with the score Cinn.  9, Uconn 13.  However, Uconn pulls away in the second halve out scoring Cinn.  by 16  points to go on to a 41 to 21 Uconn victory.  Uconn's Christopher Samonte added 6 pts and Corday Ingram added 8 pts. (of his game high 12 pts.) in the second halve.

High scorer   (Cincinnati - K.C. Guliien 8 pts.   Uconn - Corday Ingram  12 pts.)

Next game:    Cincinnati vs. St. Johns       Uconn   vs. Georgetown
Virginia  vs.  Wake Forest -  Virginia got off to a slow start only scoring 7 points in the first halve.  With such a low first halve score, Virginia was unable to catch up with Wake Forest in the second have.  Wake Forest continues its undefeated string of wins with a 38 to 26 win over Virginia.  Wake Forest's Donald Dawson an Taylor Thomas both had double figures for the game with Tayors game high 14 pts. and Donald adding 12 pts.

High scorer:  ( Virginia - Jones 8pts.       Wake Forest T. Thomas 14 pts.)

Next game:   Virginia vs. St. Joesphs       Wake Forest vs. Kentucky
St. Joesphs vs. Maryland - Maryland continues its string of wins with a 50 to 16 win over St. Joesphs.  It appears St. Joesphs was just not strong enough to keep up with  Maryland in the second halve as Maryland out scored St. Joesphs 30 pts. to 9 pts.  Maryland continues to have a balance scoring attach with eight players scoring.

High scorer:   (St. Joesphs -Chase  5 pts.    Maryland - S. Goines 19
Stanford vs. Georgetown - Stanford put on a good first halve show scoring 14 points to Georgetown's 18 pts.  However, Georgetown pulled away in the second halve to go onto an 36 to 21 victory.  Georgetown stays undefeated with 3 wins and 0 losses.   A couple of three pointers by R. Brown and R. Smith in the second halve helped Georgetown pull away.  Georgetown scored two even halves with 18 points each half.

High scorer:  (Stanford Ivey 10pts.     Georgetown  J. Thomas 11pts.)

Next game:   Stanford  vs. North Carolina      Georgetown  vs.  Uconn
July 17, 2004
Kentucky vs. Wake Forest - great game between two very good teams.  Wake Forest came out hot with a 25 to 17 halve time lead over Kentucky.  However, Kentucky re-grouped and came back with 12 pts by Eric Misotti and two tri-fecta's (3 pointers) for a total 6 pts. by Albert Bastian to make a charge in the second halve.  Kentucky put up a good fight but was unable to overcome the first halve lead by Wake Forest.  Wake Forest's Tailon Thomas served up 11 first halve and 15 second halve points to lead Wake Forest over Kentucky 45 to 44.  Wake Forest wins this one by 1 point and becomes the only undefeated team in the Junior Division.

High scorer: ( Kentucky Albert Bastian 14 pts.     Wake Forest Tailon Thomas 26 pts.)

Next game:             Kentucky vs. Virginia        Wake Forest vs. Maryland)
North Carolina vs. Stanford - a slow first halve did the damage to North Carolina.  Having to try to come back from a 18 pt. to 7 pt Stanford halve time lead.  North Carolina had various opportunities but the basket just seem to have a lid on it.  Nothing would seem to go in.  While Stanford gets a good game from Jaron Ivey with a game high 14 points.   Stanford gets their first win of the year with a 33 to 21 win over North Carolina.   Look out, Stanford just may be making a playoff run !!!!!!!

High scorer:  (North Carolina  Jerry Smith 6 pts.    Stanford  Jaron Ivey  14 pts.)

Next game:            North Carolina vs.  Cinn             Stanford  vs.  Uconn
Uconn vs. Georgetown -  Uconn gets a breakout game from DJ Whiten to lead them to a 40 to 27 win over Georgetown.  DJ scored 7 pts. in the first halve and 7 pts. in the second halve to lead all scorers.  While Uconn came on strong with a 25 to 11 halve time lead, Georgetown battled back in the second halve out scoring Uconn 16 to 15.  However, Georgetown's second halve charge was not enough and Uconn increase its record to 3 wins and 1 loss while Georgetown go to 1 win and 3 losses.

High scorer:  (Uconn  DJ Whiten  14 pts.     Georgetown Jonathan Thomas 12 pts.)

Next game:    Uconn vs. Stanford             Georgetown  vs.  St. Johns
Virginia vs. St. Joesphs -  two teams battling for their first win of the season turned out to be just the battle each expected with Virginia and St. Joesphs taking this one to the wire in a 1 pt victory for Virginia.  In a low scoring game both teams played real good defense.  This game could have went either way.  St. Joesphs gets a balance scoring effort with ranges of score from 2 to 6 pts for the teams players.  While Virginia Carrington Jones leads all scorers with a game high 10 points in Virginia's 23 to 22 win.

High scorer:  (Virginia Carington Jones 10 pts.    St. Joesphs   Casey Riggs 6 pts.)

Next game;            Virginia  vs. Kentucky      St. Joesphs   vs.  Syracuse
Cinn  vs. St. Johns - Cinn gives St. Johns their first loss of the season in a 28 to 23 victory.  Cinn used some sharp three point shooting by Timothy Thomas and Lamont Wims to dump in a total three - three points shots between the two players.  Cinn increases their record to 2 wins and 2 losses with a big game from Timothy Thomas - game high 15 pts.  St. Johns came out slow scoring only 8 pts in the first halve but put together a good second halve scoring 15 pts. to Cinn.  13 pts.  If I am correct about this Timmy Wims coached team, Cinn is putting together a charge for their playoff run.

High scorer:  (Cinn  Timothy Thomas 15 pts.   St. Johns  Jordan Rupp 7 pts.)

Next game:          Cinn vs.  North Carolina      St. Johns  vs.  Georgetown
Maryland vs. Syracuse - in what proved to be one of the most exciting games thus far, these two teams needed to go double overtime to decide a winner.  Some real smart playing, hustle, drive and determination came through as a no quit attitude from two very good teams.  Syracuse overcomes a strong attach by Maryland to come out with the one point, double overtime 54 to 53 victory over Maryland.  Maryland drops from the undefeated rank with a 3 wins and 1 loss record, while Syracuse increase their record to 2 wins and 2 losses.  A flip flop game where Syracuse was down at the halve 29 to 9 but came back strong in the second halve 31 to 11,  to tie it up in regulation at 40 to 40.  Followed by two more heated battles in overtime number 1 and overtime number 2.  A key 3 pt. shot by T. Bonheyo and some strong inside play by K. Berrigan put together the 1 pt. win.   Look for these two team to meet again.  If so, its  going to be the match of "Win or Go Home" !!!!!!!!!!!

High Scorer:       (Maryland  S. Goines 13 pts.    Syracuse  K. Berrigan 15 pts.)

Next game:   Maryland vs. Wake Forest     Syracuse  vs.  St. Joesphs
July 24, 2004
St. Johns vs. Georgetown - Georgetown moves to a tie for second place with Uconn with a 41 to 32 win over St. John's.   After a loss to Uconn last week, Georgetown makes up with an impressive win, scoring 21 pts. in the first halve and 19 points in the second halve.  However, St. Johns put up a good fight scoring 18 pts. in the first halve and 13 points in the second halve.  Georgetown gets another double figure game from   J. Thomas - his forth this year.  While, St. Johns had an even scoring attack with          D. Jenkins scoring a team high 8 pts.

Higher Scorer  (St. Johns. - D. Jenkins 8 pts)    (J. Thomas - 15 pts.)

Next week game:       St. Johns vs. Wake Forest       Georgetown vs. Maryland
Syracuse vs. St. Joseph's - St. Joseph, with an 0 wins and 4 loss record, showed how much they have improved by giving a very good Syracuse team (2 wins and 2 losses) a battle to the end.  However, Syracuse wins 32 to 23.  The final score does not reflect the battle Syracuse had to over come as the St. Joseph's team  kept coming at them.  St. Joseph's held Syracuse to only 12 pt. in the first halve with all 12 pts being made by one player (B. McMillan).  However, St. Joseph was unable to match them only scoring 8 pts. in the first halve.   Some real good defense kept St. Joseph's in this game for the first halve.  However, St. Joseph ran out of steam in the second halve failing to match Syracuse in a 20 pt. to 15 pts. Syracuse advantage.

Higher Scorer - (Syracuse - B.McMillan 18 pts)   (St. Joseph's - B. Roby 6 pts.)

Next week game:        St. Joseph vs  Stanford        Syracuse  vs. Uconn
Kentucky vs. Virginia - Kentucky wins 44 to 34.  Virginia's Carrington Jones put up a team high 18 points.  Scoring on three - 3 pointers in the first halve, Carrington was hot with a 13 first halve points.   However, Kentucky's Stephon Morris was not going to have any of that, Stephon did Mr. Jones one better, with a 14 point first halve and a game high 24 points.  Kentucky got off to a 10 point first halve lead and needed all 10 points to kept off the Virginia attack.  Virginia played Kentucky even in the second halve with a tie, second halve score of 14 points each.

Higher Scorer (Kentucky - S. Morris 24pts)   (Virginia - C. Jones 18 pts.)

Next week game:    Kentucky vs. Cinn             Virginia vs   North Carolina
Cinn. vs North Carolina -  North Carolina gets their first win of the season with an impressive 41 to 25 win over a good Cinn team.  North Carolina got an game high 17 points from Jerry Smith.  Jerry scored 13 of this 17 points in the first halve.  Cinn, looking to increase their record to 3 wins and 2 losses, were given a set back and are now faced with a 2 win and 3 loss record going into the last game of the regular season.  Cinn is going to have to pull out all the stops because they face a very good Kentucky team next week.  While, North Carolina will look to keep the steam rolling as they face Virginia next week and the chance to get their second win of the season.  Good luck to both teams.

High Scorer    (Cinn - T. Thomas 12 pts)      (NC - J. Smith 17 pts)

Next week game:        Cinn vs. Kentucky       North Carolina  vs. Virginia
Wake Forest vs. Maryland - Wake Forest remains undefeated with a close 40 to 37 win over Maryland.  Wake Forest is now the only undefeated team in both the Senior and Junior Divisions.  A really good game, with Wake Forest having to come from behind from a 18 to 14 pts Maryland halve time lead.  However, Wake Forest out scored Maryland 26 to 19 in the second halve.  Thanks to some slick three point shooting by Donald Dawson (2 three's), Jordan Dawson (1 three's) Tryon Hoy (2 three's) and Tailon Thomas (1 three) all in the second halve gave Wake Forest the push they needed to defeat a very  good Maryland team.  Maryland coming off  last weeks double overtime 1 pts loss to Syracuse had a 20 pt. effort by Jeffrey Bowie.  This was a very good game between two teams with one loss between them.  However, Maryland falls to 3 wins and 2 loss.

High Scorer  (Wake Forest - T. Thomas 16 pts)      (Maryland - J. Bowie 20 pts)

Next week game:     Wake Forest vs  St. Johns     Maryland vs. Georgetown
Stanford vs. Uconn - Stanford had two even halves scoring 9 pts in the first halve and 10 points in the second halve.  However, it was not enough to out score Uconn's 18 pts. in the first halve and 19 pts. in the second halve.  Uconn wins this one - 37 to 19.  Two very even scoring halve by both teams, yet not good enough to keep the game close.  Dwayne Whiten gets his second double figure game in a roll and lead all scorers with 12 points.  Jaron Ivey lead Stanford with a team high 8 points.

High Scorer  (Stanford - J. Ivey 8 pts )   (Uconn - D. Whiten 12 pts.)

Next week game:  Stanford vs St. Joseph's           Uconn vs. Syracuse
June 19, 2004 Senior
Senior Division
Lakers vs. Portland -  Portland, lead by 5 year player and all-time BCWB leading scorer for the Senior Division Wyhiem (Kemo) Bryant, beats the Lakers with a combination of inside / outside scoring.  What was a very close 1st half game, suddenly Portland pulled away in the second half to go on to a 74 to 61 win.

High Scorer ( Lakers W. Roberts 33 pts)      ( Portland  W. Bryant  32 pts)

Next week game:  Lakers vs. Dallas          Portland vs. Charlotte
Charlotte vs. Bulls - Returning Senior Division champions Charlotte continued their winning ways with ta 53 to 43 win over the Bulls.  Charlotte had 8 players score in a very even point spread between them.  The Bulls, a rebuilding team over the last several year, put up a strong challenge against a good team.  Look out for the Bulls this year, they are much better than this score indicates.

High Scorer ( Charlotte W. Smith 10 pts)    ( Bulls G. Johnson 22 pts.)

Next week game:  Charlotte vs. Portland         Bulls vs. T-wolves
Timberwolves vs. Cleveland - the T-wolves picked up with their intense defense from last year and put the clamps on the new team in the league - Cleveland.  With several returning 4 and 5 year players in the league, the T-wolves were just too strong for Cleveland.  However, Cleveland (former 2003 Junior Division Champs, Virginia team) moves up this year to the Senior Division.  It's going to be a challenge for this young team but look out, don't count them out, they have some very good young players.

High Scorer ( Timberwolves  J. Duvall 19 pts)    ( Cleveland CJ. Thomas 16 pts.)

Next week game:  T-wolves vs. Bulls           Cleveland vs. Knicks
Knicks vs. Dallas - in what has been the most friendly game over the years, the Knicks had just a bit more fire power than Dallas.  Both team having a evan distribution of player scoring, the Knicks out scored Dallas to go on to a 46 to 31 win.  Two very good team who always have a lot of fun when they meet.  Maybe we will see them again in the playoffs.  But, look out for Dallas, by the end of the regular season, Charlie is going to have these guy ready for a playoff run.

High scorer ( Knicks Mokie 8 pts)    (Dallas   E. Dorsey 14 pts)

Next week game:  Knicks vs. Cleveland           Dallas vs. Lakers
July 31, 2004 Juniors
Georgetown vs. Maryland - Georgetown gets off to a real slow start with scoring only 6 points in the first halve.  No good, because Maryland scored 32 points and added another 34 points in the second halve to beat Georgetown 66 to 21.  Maryland ties Georgetown with a season record of 4 wins and 2 losses.  Big win for Maryland because it pushes them up in the final standings because Maryland has beat both Georgetown and  Kentucky (who has a 4 win and 2 loss record as well).  Maryland completes the season in 3rd place.

High scorer (Georgetown - J. Thomas & A. Leeks 7 pts)   (Maryland - J Bowie 22 pts)

Next Game - First round of Playoffs  Georgetown plays Kentucky
                                                         Maryland plays St. John's

North Carolina vs. Virginia -  North Carolina coming of a last week win, gets another win with a 34 to 27 win over Virginia.  Big game for Larmar Worrell (NC) who scores a team high 15 points.   Virginia gets 19 points from Carrington Jones but not much more from his support teammates.   North Carolina could be just putting the pieces together to make a first or second round playoff run.

High Scorer  (North Carolina - L. Worrel  15 pts)   (Virginia - C. Jones 19 pts)

Next game -  First round of Playoffs     North Carolina plays Winner (Cinn vs. Stanford)
                                                            Virginia plays St. Joesphs
Uconn vs. Syracuse - Uconn has put on an impressive end of the year run with DJ Whiten scoring double figures in the last 3 out of four games.  Uconn beats Syracuse 39 to 19.  Uconn captures second place in the overall season standing with a 5 win and 1 loss record.  Syracuse was unable to get their high scoring attack from the usual suspects  (B. McMillian, Ryan, B. and Kevin B.) and come away without a player scoring double figures.  However, DJ Whiten put in a game high 15 points.  It's going to get very interesting as we get into round two and three of the playoff.  These two team could meet again.

High Scorer  (Uconn - DJ. Whiten 15 pts)   (Syracuse  - B. McMillian 9pts)

Next game - First round of Playoffs
Uconn plays Winner of Second round Syracuse Game
Syracuse plays Winner of first round Virginia vs St. Joes Game
Cinn vs. Kentucky - Cinn seem to slow down toward the end of the regular season, losing to a good Kentucky team 43 to 33.  This brings Kentucky regular season record to 4 wins and 2 losses.  A three way tie with Georgetown and Maryland.  However, Maryland beat both Kentucky and Georgetown in the regulars season and Kentucky's loss to Wake Forest (number 1 rank team) with Georgetown' s loss to Uconn (number 2 rank team) - brings the final season standing to Maryland (3), Kentucky (4) and Georgetown (5).  Big win for Kentucky who positions themselves for a playoff run and possible match with number 1 rank Wake Forest.

High Scorer (Cinn - D. Bowins 10 pts)   (Kentucky  D. Tressler 16 pts)

Next game - First round of playoffs    Cinn plays Stanford
                                                          Kentucky plays Georgetown
Stanford vs. St. Joesphs - St. Joesphs gets its long awaited win for the regular season with an impressive 21 to 11 win over Stanford.  This match between the two new teams for the league in 2004 brought both regular season records to 1 win and 5 losses.  I've talked to the coaches and they are very excited about this years performance and looking forward to next year.  With only one win on the season, look out because they will get top pick in the draft next year.  BCWB would like to thank both these first year coaches and wish them well in the playoff and next year.

High Scorer (Stanford - Josh Rathod 5 pts.)   ( St. Joesph William Harris 6 pts)

Next game - First round of playoffs    Stanford plays Cinn
                                                          St. Joesphs plays Virginia
Wake Forest vs. St. Johns -  St. Johns, after a great 3 win start, falls to Wake Forest (number 1 rank team) 50 to 25.  St. Johns ends the regular season with 3 wins and 3 losses, tied in 4th place with Syracuse with 3 wins and 3 losses.  However, St. Johns drops all the way to 6th place due to the three-way tie at third between Maryland, Kentucky and Georgetown.  St. Johns does maintain a step above Syracuse due to St. John's strength of schedule having beat 2nd rank Uconn while Syracuse did beat 3rd rank Maryland, Syracuse loss to 2nd rank Uconn.  That's the way the ball bounces sometime.  We wish St. Johns success in their first round action against a good Maryland team.

High Scorer  (Wake Forest T. Thomas 22 pts.)   (St. Johns - M. Dean 12pts.)

Next game - First round playoffs
Wake Forest plays Winner of  second round North Carolina Game
St. Johns plays Maryland in first round action
July 31, 2004 Seniors
Charlotte vs. Knicks - In a game which the outcome would determine a potential first place slot for the Knicks, the Knicks came out looking very offensive minded but without any defense.  That adds up to a 30 to 2 run in the first halve by Charlotte and a 68 to 43 win.  Charlotte came out "hooootttttttttt", I mean three point crazy.  C. Thomson (Charlotte) was a current version of "dead eye washington" - where he ran off 4 three pointers and 3 inside the arch.  All within the first 10 mins. of the game.  By the time the knicks where able to realize Charlotte was about to run them off the court, they picked it up with some tough inside play by K. Calhoun and T. Kennedy.  However it was too late.  The knick did make a charge to make it a respectable 25 point loss.  Charlotte moves to 5 wins and 1 loss on the season and ties with the Bulls for first place.  However, the Bulls take the first place slot due to a previous meeting between them (Charlotte vs. Bull Opening Day), Charlotte forfeit the game due to a coaches challenge.  Two very good teams - we just might see them again in the championship game.

High Scorer (Charlotte C. Thomas 18 pts.)    (Knicks - K. Calhoun 18 pts.)

Next game -  First round playoff action              Charlotte plays Dallas
                                                                         Knicks play Portland
Dallas vs. Bulls - tight game in the first halve a 20 to 14 lead by the Bulls.  However, the Bulls pull away in the second halve to go on to win 41 to 24.  Two very good teams.  Dallas was my pre-season pick for the run for the gold.  However, they have not faired as well ending the season with a 1 win and 5 loss record.  I still believe they are a much better team than the record states.  The Bulls increase their record to 5 wins and 1 loss.  Taking the 1st place position for the regular season.

High Scorer ( Dallas - K. Carter 7 pts.)    ( Bulls - C. Martin 10 pts.)

Next game - First round playoff action      Dallas plays Charlotte
                                                                Bulls plays Cleveland
Timberwolves vs. Lakers - another tough game for the lakers, who came out hot with a 28 to 23 halve time lead.  However, "40", "40", "40" - caught up with the lakers and the pressure was too much to stand.  The Timberwolves win this one 55 to 44.  The Timberwolves are hard to beat when the "40" (not the drink, but the press) is on.  Expect to see it in the playoffs as the Timberwolves return with a mission to "Bring it on" and "Take it all".  Believe it or not - their first round playoff action is a repeat !!!!!!

High Scorer (Timberwolves - J. Duvall 17 pts.)  (Lakers - W. Roberts 24 pts.)

Next game - First round playoff action       Timberwolves play Lakers
                                                                 Lakers play Timberwolves
Portland vs. Cleveland - Cleveland will go down this year win-less.  However, if you talk to most Senior coaches, they all give the Cleveland coaches and players high respect.   Every game, Cleveland, came to play and despite the score they kept on coming.  A good group of kids, still young (all current 8th graders), will be back next year with more experience and ready to make a run at the championship.  Cleveland is a better team with the aid of, missing and on vacation player, CJ. Thomas.  Portland, however, had nine players scoring on the day.  Portland put on some tough defense and a strong offensive attack to the bucket.  Portland wins 58 to 13.

High Scorer (Portland - S. Osigbeme13 pts.)   (Cleveland - C. Wal, M. Harry &
D.Fyanes all have 4 pts. each)

Next game -  First round playoff action       Portland plays Knicks
                                                                  Cleveland plays Bulls
June 26, 2004 Seniors
Knicks vs. Cleveland - the knicks were just too strong with a balance scoring attach by guards Malik Simmons and Mo Martin with 20 and 18 pts.  While their big man, Kevon Calhoun scored a game high 20 points.   Mokie chipped in 15 points.  Cleveland falls to 0 wins and 2 losses.  Missing their high scorer from last week, CJ. Thomas, they had 8 players score evenly - but in single digits.  The knicks win 82 to 32.

High Scorer (Knicks M. Simmons & K. Calhoun 20 pts.  Cleveland T. Terpsning 6 pts)

Next game - Knicks vs. Timberwolves    Cleveland vs. Dallas
Lakers vs. Dallas - the was a defensive battle between two very good teams.  It came down to the wire as the Lakers pulled of the 34 to 33 win over Dallas.  The Lakers came back from a 22 to 18 half time deficit.  This game came down to a jab step, power dribble to the middle, by N. Josiah, who dropped it up over the rim and in for a one point Laker lead with about 3 seconds left on the clock..  Dallas attempted a  long, end of the court pass which was deflected by a Laker player, right into the hands of another Dallas player who go the last second shot off which just missed -bouncing off the rim as the buzzer went off.

High Scorer  (Lakers  N. Josiah 10   Dallas  P. Brown 10 pts)

Next game - Lakers vs. Charlotte     Dallas vs. Cleveland
Charlotte vs. Portland - what I thought was going to be a much closer game than the score indicated, Portland was never able to recover from the strong Charlotte run in both halves.  Charlotte had a balanced scoring attack with 6 out of 7 players scoring  and 4 scoring double figures.  Portland had a strong attach by G. Obeinqony and W. Bryant but not enough to overcome the various runs made by this good Charlotte team.

High Scorer  ( Charlotte L. Ellis 21 pts.     Portland W. Bryant 21 pts)

Next game - Charlotte vs. Lakers     Portland vs.  Bulls
Timberswolves vs. Bulls - the first overtime game of the season.  This was a great battle between two very good teams.  It was a battle of the big men.  Inside play was strong on both sides.  However, the T-wolves was unable to stop the bulls inside attack by g. Johnson.  When it came down to who to foul, for the Timberwolves, it turned out they fouled the wrong guy - Deke G.   Everyone in the crowd said together - "no not him" - Deke scored 7 of this 16 game points at the foul line.  He also added a 3 pt. shot.   A few strong moves to the hoop by E. Means and DJ. Hill added the key play and motivation to go the distance.   Portland wins 71 to 67 in overtime.

High Scorer ( Timberwolves  B. Smith & Z. Kebtz 16 pts.   Bulls  G. Johnson 38 pts)

Next game - Timberwolves vs. Knicks     Bulls vs.  Portland

Knicks vs. Timberwolves - very close game where both teams left it all on the court.  This game came down to some great rebounding by the knicks T. Kennedy and some quick scoring by the Timberwolves J. Duvall.  Timberwolves win this one by one point with a score of 51 to 50.

High scorer:  ( Knicks  Mo Martin 24 pts.   Timberwolves  J. Duvall 23 pts.)

Next game:           Knicks vs. Bulls      Timberwolves   vs.  Charlotte
Cleveland vs. Dallas - Cleveland falls to a good Dallas team.  However Cleveland is improving each week.  Although Cleveland has yet to win a game, Cleveland's C.J. Thomas keeps working hard to help his players and team move closer to their first win.  Dallas wins 56 to 32.

High scorer:  (Dallas C. Aberrantly 12 pts.   Cleveland - C.J. Thomas 15 pts.)

Next game:   Cleveland vs. Lakers      Dallas vs. Portland
Charlotte vs. Lakers  -  Charlotte continues a strong showing with a 67 to 25 win over the Lakers.  The Lakers just did not seem to be the team we have seen over the past few weeks.  Turnovers really hurt the Lakers as Charlotte's two big men had a dunk and several easy lay ups off of back court steals.  Charlotte put on an impressive showing.  But don't count the Lakers out, they always come on strong toward the payoffs time.

High scorers:  (Charlotte - Danzel 16 pts.   Lakers - Roberts 10 pts.)

Next game:            Lakers vs. Cleveland     Charlotte  vs.  Timberwolves
Portland vs. Bulls - a well played game which went down to the wire with the Bulls pulling out a tight 45 to 42 victory over Portland.  An even second halve with both teams scoring 15 points each.  The difference appears to have happen in the first halve as the Bulls out scored Portland 30 points to 27.  However, Portland gave the Bulls all they could take all the way down to the last second on the clock.

High scorer:    (Portland Woodfolk  11 pts.    Bulls  Martin  11 pts.)

Next game:                  Portland vs. Dallas    Bull  vs. Knicks
East vs. West Reunion Game -  the second annual E v W Reunion game proved to be the best so far.  With lots of scoring and little defense, the East pulls out a the win with a 86 to 81 win.  This game quickly became the "Can anybody stick on Craig" game as former Knick and East leading scorer Craig Spinner shot from 2 pts, 3 pts, lay ups and somebody said he shot one from the kids play ground area.  The West just could not stop the high power scoring from Craig Spinner.  Some one said they even saw Craig selling popcorn in the stand on a fast break lay up.  Always a great game and lot of fun for the former BCWB players to come back and entertain the crowd.

High scorer:  ( East  Craig Spinner 36 pts.   West  D. Hawkins 24 pts.)

Next game:   2005 East vs. West Reunion game.
July 17, 2004
Portland vs. Dallas - another close game where Portland pull out a 3 point win over Dallas with a 55 to 52 victory.   Both teams played very even first and second halves with Portland scoring 27 points to Dallas 24 in the first halve and a even 28 to 28 point score in the second halve.  Both Portland and Dallas are very good teams that will surprise someone in the playoffs.  We just may see this game again.  Portland gets a team high 15 points from Hamilton Woodfolk while Dallas gets 15 pts. each from both Shannon Strange and Eddie Dorsey.   Look out - this is the first time Shannon and Eddie, both from St. James High School, have played together this year.  Look for Dallas to get stronger as we close in on the playoffs.

High Scorer:   (Portland Hamilton Woodfolk  15 pts.  Dallas   Strange & Dorsey 15 pts)

Next game:             Portland  vs.  T-wolves      Dallas  vs.  Charlotte
Lakers vs. Cleveland -  the Lakers come back strong, from a disappointing loss last week to top rank Charlotte, to hand Cleveland the loss in a 75 to 49 Laker victory.  The Lakers had scoring from 10 players.  Cleveland continues to get a great effort from CJ. Thomas who scored 21 points to lead all scorers.  However, Cleveland only received additional  scoring from four other players.  But don't count Cleveland out yet, they are young and just may be building the team for the future.  While the Lakers showed their championship effort seen in 2002.  When the Lakers play, it is always a good game to see - the Lakers coaches put 110% effort in every game they play.

High scorer:  (Lakers Wendell Roberts  17 pts.    Cleveland  CJ. Thomas 21 pts)

Next game:                 Lakers  vs  Knicks     Cleveland  vs.  Bulls
Charlotte vs. T-wolves -  Charlotte continues their high scoring attack with a 71 to 50 victory over the T-wolves.  Charlotte put together two good halves with 32 points in the first halve and 39 points in the second halve.  However, the T-wolves only managed to score 14 first halve points. However, they did re-group to score 26 points in the second halve.  Charlotte had 9 players score.

High scorer:  (Charlotte  Thompson 19 pts.    T-wolves  Jerame Duvall  14 pts.)

Next game:             Charlotte  vs.  Dallas       T-wolves  vs.  Portland
Bulls vs. Knicks -  when ever you play the Bulls you need to be ready for a hard battle against a no quit team.  This game was no different.  The Bulls battled and battled and battled - over and over and over - however they just could not get over the battle back from the knicks in a game which came down to the last seconds where the Knicks win 59 to 53.  The Knicks came out strong with a 36 to 28 halve time lead.  This proved to be just the space  needed to hold of the Bulls second halve attack where the Bulls out scored the Knicks 28 to 23.  Some balance scoring between the Knicks Malik (12 pts), Moe (13 pts) and Kavon (12 pts) hold off the Bulls.  Great game with a  lot of action.

High scorer:  (Bulls  DJ Hill  18 pts.      Knicks  Moe Martin  13 pts.)

Next game:                Bulls  vs.  Cleveland    Knicks  vs. Lakers
July 24, 2004
Lakers vs. Knicks - over the years, the Knick and Lakers have always been a good game of intense competition.  This game was no different.  The knicks pulled out to a halve time lead of 22 to 19.  But it was all the M. (Mokie) Ferguson show in the second halve.  Mokie took over scoring 17 of this game high 21 points in the second halve.  Only matched by the Lakers W. Roberts game high 21 points.  The knick kept up the pace in the second halve out scoring the Lakers 31 to 29.   The knicks go on to win this one 53 to 48.  The knick increase their record to 4 wins and 1 loss.

High Scorer ( Lakers - W. Roberts 21 pts.)    (Knicks  -  Mokie 21 pts.)

Next game:          Knicks vs Charlotte             Lakers vs. Timberwolves
Charlotte vs. Dallas - game of the week for the Senior Division.  Dallas, a much improved team gave Charlotte all they could handle.  Charlotte wins a close one 47 to 45.  Charlotte had a big game from K. Henry who scored a team high 15 pts.  Not far behind was teammate J. McLeod with 13 pts.  On the Dallas side, E. Zwisky had a break out game with a game high 16 pts.  Not far behind was teammate S. Strange with 13 pts.  This was a battle to the end.  Charlotte jumped out to a 24 to 18 halve time  lead .  But  Dallas showed the fight in them with a 27 to 23 second halve.  However, just 3 points short of the win.  Look out, Dallas just may be making a playoff push.

High Scorer:  (Charlotte - K. Henry 15 pts)    (Dallas - E. Zwisky 16 pts.)

Next game:             Charlotte vs. Knicks             Dallas vs. Bulls
Portland vs. Timberwolves - another good game in the Senior Division as the Timberwolves just overcome Portland with a 49 to 42 win.  The Timberwolves jumped out to a 23 to 16 halve time lead which made the difference as Portland tied the Timberwolves in the second halve with both teams scoring 26 pts.  J. Duvall had another double figure game scoring a game high 20 points.  Seems it hard to stop "J".  However, H. Wookfolk had another good scoring game for Portland, scoring a team high 18 pts.

High Scorer:  ( Portland - H. Wookfolk 18 pts.)   (Timberwolves - J. Duvall 20 pts.)

Next game:        Portland vs. Cleveland            Timberwolves vs. Lakers
Cleveland vs. Bulls -  the Bulls get scoring from 11 players to help go on to a 74 to 35 win over Cleveland.  Cleveland, the youngest team in the league, falls to 0 wins and 5 losses.  However, Cleveland comes to play every week.  The Bulls, one of the strongest teams in the league, had a game high scoring day from G. Johnson who had 32 pts.  All other Bulls players scored evenly, ranging from 2 pts to 8 pts between 10 players.  Cleveland gets a team high 11 pts from T. Terpsning.

High Scorer:  (Cleveland - T. Terpsning  11 pts.)   ( Bulls - G. Johnson 32 pts.)

Next game:           Cleveland vs. Portland            Bulls vs   Dallas
