Sometimes
there are unique family circumstances that would prevent a student from
performing up to his potential. Frederick County Public Schools has established
the Community Agency School Services program (CASS) which partners with public
and private organizations, and local governments to provide families with
accessible and affordable resources in their communities. These resources
include:
CASS
coordinators have offices in 9 school communities. Families are welcome to make
contact with a CASS coordinator on their own but it is more common for the
school to contact the parent when they notice that a student is struggling with
his/her work. The CAAS coordinator will then make an assessment of the needs of
the family and refer them to the appropriate agency/agencies. CASS coordinators
can also accompany family members to the agencies that offer the appropriate
service and introduce them to the agents there.
